Happy Experience
In February 2020, I embarked on a happy experience. As the pandemic was just beginning, we traveled to Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountain in Malaysia, a trip that remains vivid in my memory. Just going to Malaysia was an adventure in itself, but we weren't there primarily for tourism. Instead, we aimed to seize the moment and bravely explore Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountain. Under normal circumstances, outsiders are not allowed to visit Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountain, especially since we were just foreign visitors with tourist permits. However, with the guidance of a friend, we were eventually able to enter the mountain.
Heading to Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountain
This trip was both work and leisure. Since we were in Malaysia, we decided to explore and have fun until late at night, which meant we could only take a few hours of rest before setting off for Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountain. Our journey began at 4 a.m. and lasted until noon. There were no remarkable sights along the way, which was about what I expected. We left the city and gradually made our way into the remote countryside. The area had few trees, and the roads became increasingly narrow. Sparse trees lined the mountain roads, and soon we noticed red clay appearing everywhere. The reddish hue grew more pronounced, creating a unique sensation. As we looked around, the entire mountain seemed to be covered in red clay, and we knew we were getting close to Lek Lai Mountain. At that time, our mobile phones lost signal. It felt like the energy in that area was so strong that it affected our reception. We even considered doing a live stream from there, but we abandoned the idea due to the lack of signal.
Three Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountains
Malaysia has three Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountains: the previously mentioned Red Clay Mountain, as well as White Clay LekLai (Goethite) Mountain and Crystal Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountain. Let’s start with the smallest, Crystal Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountain. Due to local development, this mountain has been flattened, and the mining site no longer exists, which means that Crystal Lek Lai (Goethite) is no longer being produced. If anyone is interested in it and feels a connection, you should acquire it immediately. I believe that in another six months or so, its value will definitely increase.
The Second Mountain: White Clay Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountain
The second mountain is White Clay Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountain, which we originally planned to visit. However, it is much farther from Red Clay Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountain, and we couldn't drive directly into the mining area; we needed to walk a distance along the mountain path to reach it. White Clay Lek Lai (Goethite) Mountain is primarily known for producing DNA and the latest fragments of diamonds.
Close Observation of the Mining Process
Red Clay LekLai (Goethite) Mountain is the largest of the three, and many varieties are extracted from here, including the famous Big Buddha beads, Big Buddha pillars, and Smart Sing Gall . Our family's three treasures all come from Red Clay LekLai (Goethite) Mountain. The local workers enter the mines based on their experience to extract various types of Lek Lai stones. Since we had no training and lacked suitable climbing gear, we didn't plan to ascend the mountain, even though Red Clay LekLai (Goethite) Mountain isn't particularly high; it still presented challenges for us. Instead, we observed from the side.
The local workers don’t carry many tools and cannot use vehicles to transport the extracted Lek Lai stones. They climb the mountain using only ropes and carry large bags to collect the stones they dig up. The process is quite laborious and carries a certain level of danger. The freshly extracted LekLai (Goethite) stones are covered in red clay, making it difficult to assess their quality until they are washed at the riverbank. Only after cleaning can we clearly see the quality of the stones.
Most Unforgettable Experience
During our visit to LekLai(Goethite) Mountain, the most unforgettable moment was being the first Hongkonger to arrive at the mountain and taking a photo in front of a massive golden LekLai (Goethite) stone. The stone was as tall as a person, and seeing such a gigantic golden LekLai (Goethite) stone for the first time was truly astonishing. I felt immense gratitude that it had not been sculpted or processed in any way; it was birthed by Mother Earth and was full of power. It was incredibly unique and extremely rare. The locals unanimously agreed that it should not be mined, as they believe it protects LekLai(Goethite)
Mountain.
